Hi, I am a biophysics grad student at Cal. My friends would describe me as being honest, sensitive, responsible, and intelligent. I am originally from the Ukraine, which means I love lard :-) just kidding. I think of myself as somewhat of a geek because I like logic puzzles and reading about world affairs. But that does not mean I stay at home all the time - I love the outdoors (camping, rafting), good conversation, salsa dancing, and anything else that's fun and adventurous. These days, I call myself a designer, but usually only when no one is listening.

I would describe myself as someone who is seeking to live life more passionately, searching for those fleeting moments when your eyes light up with wonder, your heart races, and you take in the beauty that is life. I might not always be living up to this goal, but Iâ??m always looking to love, laugh, and live. Most of the time Iâ??m fairly serious, but thereâ??s a goofy side of me thatâ??s waiting to come out.

Iâ??m a very inquisitive and intellectual person by nature, I love finding out how things work or learning something new. The nooks and crannies of knowledge fascinate me. Iâ??ve spent way too much time on Wikipedia jumping from entry to entry just to pick up new things. I can be a total geek sometimes and Iâ??m only slightly ashamed to admit it.

I just moved here to the bay area. I am looking to meet fun and exciting people to have hilarious misadventures with. I feel that this area has a lot worth exploring. Who likes to explore?

The screen name: We're all along for the ride. That's all there is: no driver, no destination. No Joan Osborne notions. If we want something more, we need to make it up. This is both daunting and exhilarating. And definitely better with someone to share the joke.

I was once told by a date that I was an old soul with a filthy mouth, which I think is a fairly apt description of myself. I have also been told that I can be "one of the guys" but if I am then it's in full makeup and heels. I am politely crass and delicately ravenous.

Regarding personality traits, I embrace both sides of the spectrum; yet, I find that when forming opinions, I often fall within the gray... that is not to say, however, that I never take sides.

Once you get past my bite I'm sweet as sugar. I'm always there with a quip or one liner. I like any excuse to dress up. Outside of the comforts of my own bed I find it hard to sit still. If I could harness my attention and energies I could accomplish anything. I am only starting to get to know myself.

I'm not very good at introspection, but a brief history would include that I grew up in Illinois and came to California quite a while ago to study mathematics. I dropped out of graduate school to work in the tech industry, and have been managing some combination of computers and people ever since.

I like farmer's markets, good salami, and a nice rye Manhattan before dinner. I also like taking pictures of people I know, playing with my friends' children, and excuses to use interesting tools.

I enjoy a lot of things, way too many things, and always find myself with too little time to do them in. I graduated college with enough credits to have declared a Creative Writing major and Psych minor. I always try something new at least twice. The second time is in case I happened to have an unluckily unpleasant experience the first time.

I decided on adventure-friendly because let's be honest (because everyone's honest on OKC, obviously), I'm a pro-social introvert. I'd sit there reading my favorite books if I thought it was good for me, and wonder why I'm not getting out much. Hanging out with my friends is a must, but I always need me-time to rejuvenate.

And since this is a wide world we live in, I gotta put it out there: I'm a feminist. It seems to have been a side effect of thinking women are human beings of equal value to men.

I have strong opinions on many things, and will change those opinions the moment I see evidence to the contrary.

I will never stop learning. My life goal is to learn 13 languages by the time I die. Maybe not fluency in all 13, but I want to be able to hold a conversation in all of them. I'll be starting with Spanish soon.

I am Tristan, I am very soicalible and I tend to make friends very quickly with my open personality. I have always been a very good listener and I love trying to help people through their problems. I don't have very many enemies nor do I like to keep people in that light. I enjoy staying in or going out to see movies or watching TV. I am also very big into playing video games and recently getting more into board games which was something i always liked but was never exposed to it much. Hello, I find in these things I tend to write adjectives instead of essays and if anything about me intrigues you I will probably then write longer stream of consciousness of my thoughts and better descriptions of what I've done. The further I go in life, the more I seem to blend in to the things around me. It's not a bad thing; it just means I'm picky about my context.

I checked "spirituality - other..." and it's prickling at me, so maybe I should elaborate. While my chosen path may be loosely defined (kind of like the alternate sense of catholic), some things are important to me, and I have found a few things to be true. I try to balance personal growth with humility (or else life sends a friendly reminder about balance and humility, and then I just listen well). I have a kind of thing for the compassion/transcendence paradigm in Buddhism, but I generally think being present in our present world (which is beautiful and precious) is pretty key. I am striving for a life of service that is enabled by the pursuit of my passions and crazy love affair with life.

I've never been especially good at self-promotion, but I am good at listening and facilitating change. That being said, I love animals and people in general (although people in particular can be maddening); I want to channel my energy into a usable force in the physical universe, in relationships, in daily activity, in thoughtful choices. I like to meditate, and I love the fall (transitioning to Bay-Area weather represented a challenging adjustment), natural beauty, and singing.

I have cultivated a love for the goddess and a devotion to the wild imagination of nature, and I have aspired to an integrated life. A predilection for practical arts has led me to develop spiritual study through work as a teacher, a healer, and a crafts person. Should luck and dedication endure, graduate work in botany and an apprenticeship with an herbalist are yet to come.

Well I'm new out here. I just moved from Texas. No I'm not a typical Texan though. I like most kinds of music, but mostly Rock. I like outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and climbing. My favorite thing to do at home is cooking. I've been told I'm good. In my free time i like to read, write, and play games. Just moved back to the East Bay from Dublin after working in Pleasanton for 2 years. I dont get to see much of my friends these days unless I drive out to Santa Cruz, Vallejo, or Foster City...so Ive been seeing family most of my time. I just moved to California from Arizona. I have spent the past several years travelling and working in Europe and now I'm settling into life back in the states. I'm very close with my family, but also enjoy hanging out with friends. I love to dance salsa and be active outdoors.

I am a proud to be a Dad. For me, a great weekend is at the beach or a weekend cabin at Lake Tahoe. Friends enjoy my sense of humor sometimes biting, often witty and totally unexpected. I love to swim and I am a member of the local masters swim team. I have also picked up open water swimming at local lakes and beaches. I race other swimmers in a 2-mile sprint to the finish line. I enjoy people like me, who are centered and grown up but can still be silly sometimes.

I am a french researcher (a subspecies of geek) who moved out of France after 28 years spent there and came in the bay area to have an experience of the great wide world (I wish I was born 300 years ago and was an explorer). I open my eyes today and find that I have been in 12-step recovery for 13 years in various programs for various life challenges. I am feeling peaceful today. I get to notice my imperfections, embrace them, and work toward my higher good. Sometimes it's not such a smooth process and then it gets really hilarious! I have been homeless, and I have lived on Telegraph Hill in a five story home with an elevator and a maid. Money is nice but it can't buy you happiness or love. The truth is I would like to meet someone. I feel I finally have something to bring to the table, me

I think it's long past time that I changed things up here. I'm a 20-something Vietnamese Hapa, son of a marine and the wonderful woman who is my mother. In case you think that it was one of those war things, I must say, no. My mom is white.

At any rate, I'm a nice guy with something of a naughty streak. Totally straight-edge, except when it comes to sex, though I just recently started drinking in any quantity, and i don't do it often. It turns me all cuddly and touchy-feely. Right now, I'm in an open relationship with my boyfriend of over a three years now, so you could say that I'm open for anything in that regard, especially since he encourages me to go out and have fun since my sex drive WAY eclipses his. If you're worried about me being a slut or a whore while possibly dating/seeing/having fun with me, try to realize that while my relationship is open, I've only had sex with ONE, count'em, ONE other guy in the entirety of the time I've been with my boyfriend. I like sex, but I'm not about to go out and f*** random strangers, cuz that's just gross.

Coming away from the rant/tangent, I guess you could say I'm one of those guys who knows everybody and is friends with most of them. My best friend, whom I love dearly, is a straight boy who comes off as gay, so I find it incredibly amusing when we're walking around and some sweet, smiling, accepting person who means well comes over and asks, "Oh, are you two a couple?" and I have to explain that my boyfriend is over somewhere else and my BFF is just my friend.

Talking personality-wise, I a big sweet-heart at the core. When my friends need help, I'm there. I feel bad about hurting nice people, and I despise drama. My main role seems to end up being care-taker and peace-keeper. Over-all, when people meet me, they seem to like me.

I do have a darker side, however. I've learned to use anger as a tool, a way of keeping myself focused and on track. It keeps me from being distracted, allowing me to use that fire to fuel my every-day life without burning out. It also manifests when I get seriously annoyed and/or angry. My face goes blank, my eyes glaze slightly, I lose all patience, and my tone of voice goes from pleasant to curt and scornful. I hardly ever let it show, though. It seems to me that even while angry, it's best to keep up a smile. No need to tip one's hand.

To open, I'd like to refer to my favorite poem:

To recap: My life philosophy is to try and take things exactly as seriously as they need to be taken. I've found that most of the time things don't need to be taken all that seriously. In fact, we generally get bogged down taking ourselves way too seriously.
That being said, I take very seriously the power of art to transform our world. I believe in the inherent value of comedy, tragedy, magic, and inspiration. I want to rediscover the same fascination with the world that made me read every ZooBook and build space shuttles with my Legos. That'd be nice.
But I'll settle for maybe making people a little happier. Or helping them understand their grief. That'd be real nice.
Also, getting paid for it would be cool.

I don't need to be fixed, but I've come to the conclusion that it's going to take a patient soul to work with me. My past two relationships ended when the person I was with said that I couldn't communicate my feelings to their satisfaction. I'm working on this and I recognize my shortcomings, but I also think that I have plenty to bring to a relationship. I do listen, respond throughtfully, and engage in conversations. I'll always be willing to learn and make changes in my life if it can be shown to me that there's a better way of doing something.

My strong preference would be to find someone active and enthusiastic about trying new things. I'd like to consider myself a fairly simple person and seek to avoid drama when possible. Life throws enough at us without having to be around someone who wants to infuse unnecessary crap.

I'm a computer geek. I think in 3D images. I like just about anything science and technologies. I also like to eat (I always tell people that I'm on diet; lots of them), I constantly seek out weird food to try. I also like experimental cooking. Oh.. I also annoy every living things in all universes (in a good way I swear).

I'm new to the singles scene, and am looking to find kindred spirits. I'm a recovering hippy, a mediocre buddhist, a practicing pagan, a cultural (but non-observant) Jew, and try to approach life with curiosity and playfulness. I have a long time interest in Sensuality, communication, and creating playfulness as a life practice. Let's make a beginning....

I have a very good sense of humor, I am considerate, often very kind, giving and loving. I appreciate wit, humor and above all intelligence. I am rather outgoing but this hides a hidden introversion. I can be quiet and shy when the mood takes me but normally I tend towards friendliness and a boisturous nature.

People often describe me as the creative/intellectual/introspective/alternative type. But I can also be talkative. Basically I'm a creative person at heart (although I have technical and business sides too).

My main vocation is photography. For me, it's the perfect blend of the creative and the technical sides.

I'm a bit strange I suppose. I'm trained in illustration, screenwriting, playwriting, film/video editing and film/video direction.

I love the ocean, the beaches and the mountains. I run for exercise. And I love movies.

I am a tech geek.

I am a father of a 9 year old girl and a male fetus.
They are definitely the most important people in my world. My daughter stays with me a third of the week and that means I spend a part of my week doing things that are entertaining to a 9 year old. My fetal son is with me 7 days a week, inside my partner's uterus.

I love art in many different forms.

I work in a corporate environment and live in a condo. As much as I'm happy where I am, there's a part of me that wants to work from home and move to someplace with a big yard and lots of fruit trees.

I love welding (but don't have the space now). I've made metal sculptures, cut apart and reconstructed shopping carts with motors, and built robots for robot wars. I hope to start doing this again.

I've skydived, but I don't anymore. But I'm pondering a private pilots license, because damn if I can't get around the country to visit people faster in a Cessna. I should get moving on that.

I like traveling and thrive on seeing new things and new places. I keep going back to Germany because I really like it there and some of my oldest friends are expats there. I want to see more of Asia.

I love music, especially live music.

I can be a homebody and can go through weeks of spending my evenings staying at home cooking, reading, watching DVDs, or playing hour after hour of video games.

I don't watch TV, don't have cable/sattelite/reception, and don't want it. I love movies, I've got netflix and a projector. I read.

I like games (card, video, role playing, etc) and learning about what makes games interesting. At different parts of my life I've worked in the video game industry and the RPG design industry (the book variety, like D&D), but I don't now.

Music is a big part of my life. I'm either listening to or downloading it daily. I like to get out to a music club when possible but I don't have the funds to do it often.

I'm honestly a Slacker by "normal" standards. I'm also a bit of a geek. I play video games and have for almost 20 years. Of late I have been spending just way too much time playing Fallout 3 on my xbox 360. Want to distract me?

I play and run role playing games of various sorts, from Vampire to D&D. My favorite game is the one I can play the least -- Deadlands -- which is sad since I own damn near all the books.

I am a collector. The things I collect include comic books, CD's, playing card decks, books, action and horror movies and figures, and, most importantly, good people. I'm not really looking for more girlfriends, but I am always open to more lovers, and I never turn down finding new friends.

Limits are made to be pushed. I go to non-vanilla parties and have been getting more involved in the "adult film" industry. Recently, I was the guy who kept my clothes on... but it didn't seem to hurt my performance, according to the girls involved.

I may have serious quirks, but I'm learning not to take them seriously!!

I'm currently living in the chess house in El Cerrito. We are the Nerdfighters; the best chess players on the west coast. I'm not here that much as I travel around to tournaments quite a bit. I would like to meet some nice boys to show me around the town. Not so serious at first.

I'm a mixed girl from the bay area, i love all the things in life that have made me the person i am and i hope that moving back will rekindle my real self. I am an artist of every type although I'm not a big performer. I love to paint(oils, water color, acrylics), draw(pencil, ink, pastel etc.), sing( jazz vocals mostly but sometimes i will just sing for fun, there is even a playlist on my iPod for songs i love to sing...:) ), dance, cook(this is my biggest passion, I love that we get the HD foodnetwork channel. I love to cook anything and everything, and if i don't know how to cook it i will learn how. ), listen to music(pretty much anything from any part of the world...as long as its not country), take pictures( I've got a really old Nikon i absolutely love that my dad gave me...35mm..yea film but i do like to take pictures with my little fujifilm digital camera as well).
I love to sit in the sun on a nice day and just listen to the world, lay in the grass and examine my surroundings, go to the marina during sunset and take pictures.
I love Shakespeare, i love the use of langauge and sometimes wish people spoke like that. Plus the guys were way more chivalrous (sp?), but alas it is not and i still get random messges from people i have never met saying things like:
"Yo ma, i tryin to c wat u gettin into. Holla"
Now as tempting of an offer as that seems to be i have to pass based on the fact that more that half of the "words" in that statment are not found in most dictionaries.

I'm Ryan, 24, work in sound recording, and play guitar... I don't drink nor smoke, but I'm constantly going to concerts. I don't particularly enjoy writing about myself, really how fun IS it to try and sell yourself to people you don't know? It's like in a job interview when they ask you "why should I hire you, instead of the next guy?"

I listen to a LOT of music, metal, classical, jazz, funk, rock... I generally like depressing movies, mostly because they're usually the ones that make you want to rethink your life and work harder to be a 'better person.' Comedy, Horror, Action, Foreign, they're all good... Generally I read non fiction, often history, psychology or instructional books.

I was born in the wastelands of Minnesota on the border of "ass crack nowhere" and "bumble fuck nowhere." Right around the corner of "butt fuck egypt." It was a quiet childhood and an uneventful teenage life filled with cow tipping and stealing beer from the back of pick up trucks. Well, maybe no cow tipping, but you get the general idea. How small was my town? Let's just put it this way - half of my senior class is all on facebook, we're all friends with each other, and that brings us to a total of twelve. Impressive, no?

After graduating with my ever so usefull degree in Music, I tried my hand at "big city" life and moved to Minneapolis where I worked renting dumpsters (told you my degree was useful). After about a year there I was offered better pay back in the boonies of Minnesota so I moved back. God that was such a dumb idea. However, after much nagging and the persistant nature of my friend, old coworker, and future roommate, I decided to move to San Francisco.

I've now been in the Bay Area for close to two years.
