The artists developed a colourful piece of metal to be mounted on a street lamp post on the avenue. In July 2011, the ACC rejected the original design proposal and instructed the artists to continue developing an alternative design with a different approach to installing the icon and a new lighting design. The artists met with the ACC, asked for public comments and then met with them several times, received feedback and presented alternative designs and concepts in September 2011. After a year, a contract was downloaded for the artists and they met again with ACC in March 2012, this time for final design review and approval. On March 13, 2013, ACC confirmed its application and requested that they submit an alternative design that is abstract and fits into the current streetscape.
